The story leading up to the wedding, as narrated by Mannat
“Our story is a tale of thousands of long distance calls, Skype dates, midnight flights, and a hint of patience! At the start of our 4 year long distance relationship, Dikshant was living in Los Angeles, and I was living in Mumbai.
Dikshant was visiting Mumbai for a month in August 2014, so we made the most of it! We met every single day before and after work - I was interning at the time. Finally, the day that he had to leave arrived, we decided to see how we kept in touch for the next couple of months and then re-evaluate in December. Soon enough, it was December 21st, he was back in Mumbai and we finally made our relationship official. Shortly after, it was time for him to go back to work in LA. We said goodbye and planned when we would see each other next.
Funnily enough, about a year into our relationship, we were very close to being in the same city. Dikshant was moving back to Mumbai, but then unexpectedly – I moved to Chicago for work! We had crossed paths. Luckily, Dikshant had planned to do his masters in Boston. The smartie that he is, obviously he got into the university of his choice and we continued our long distance relationship between Boston & Chicago. For me, this was the highlight in our relationship because this was the period when we got extremely close. We would travel back and forth to see each other nearly every alternate weekend.
What I love about our story is that as I look back, I realise how much effort we both put in to be together, but at the time it felt completely and entirely effortless.
Nevertheless, our long distance relationship ended with Dikshant proposing in the most romantic way. We went to Sardinia, Italy together with his family. They all put in so much effort to make this day the most magical and memorable day in my life. It was the best day. Floating candles in the pool, rose petals everywhere and of course the love of my life in front of me”
